#4: Halo 3

Did anyone not know that this one was coming?

I'm pretty positive that this is the last gimmie pick on my list.  The final 3 aren't going to be everyone's guesses at my personal favorites, but this one's easy.

Halo 3 is my favorite shooter of all time.

There are a ton of positives that people can say about this game.  There aren't many negatives.  I understand and respect if people say that they can't get into sci-fi shooters.  I also understand that people don't necessarily love shooters where you jump around.  For those that don't hate those things, there's Halo 3.

There's a reason that this is the number 1 tournament shooter in the world.  It's insanely polished.  There's a reason to use every weapon and every gadget.  The play (like in all Halo's) is fast and crisp.

The maps in H3 are great, but if there's a map that you don't like... edit it.  The map editor in Halo 3 is the best on all consoles.  Unfortunately it's also one of the only editors on consoles.  There are many gaming groups who have embraced map editors in games, so I've never understood why it's not a more common feature.

The map editor only furthered Bungie's community support.  They may have the best gamer involvement out of any production studio.  A group of people made a sport within Halo 3 called Grifball.  Bungie devoted a weekend per month to that game.  Many people built stunning levels.  Bungie gathered the best levels and put them into it's own community playlist.  I understand that they're getting payed big bucks off of this, so I won't go so far as to say "they care" about their community.  But I will say that they listen to the community and it shows with the constant patches and playlist updates.
One of the main fan elements included in Halo 3
Some people will say that I'm biased towards Halo because I play it so much.  I look at it the opposite way.

I play Halo a lot because of how perfect of a multiplayer shooter it is.
