#6: Mario Kart 64

Those who know me can probably guess at two remaining games on this list.  This is one of the two.  Is there a gamer that hasn't had some great times with this game?

Doubtful.

All of the Mario Kart games are excellent, but the N64 iteration is particularly great because of its accessibility.  The SNES is too easy to skid out for casual gamers.  The GC and Wii versions are too fast paced for casual gamers to jump into.  But Mario Kart 64 is juuuust right.

This is probably going to be one of my shorter top 50 posts because its a no brainer.  It's an excellent game, franchise, and experience.  There's always hooting and hollering where this game is present.  Everyone seems to enjoy it.

Last note about how great this game is.  I've experienced many gaming debates in my life.  Which Final Fantasy, Halo or COD, PS3 or XBox.  I've never been in a more furious gaming debate than which Mario Kart 64 character is the best.  It was hilarious and just a little sad.  Particularly because the answer is clearly Wario.

"Toad's Turnpike" or "Why did 2 cars drive straight over me while I was bouncing in the road!  Jerks."
